Sona Runes and Lux Runes bot lane is a popular topic at this time. Seeing play in all ranks and even in esports, both are very strong in the present meta. However, what makes them good and how does a duo Support lane work?

Inside this guide, we'll break down the way to perform this unique combination from the bot lane and how you are able to abuse it until Riot guts it. This will be part 1 of a 2 part series: focusing on the best way best to perform as both. In our next guide, we'll tell you how you can play against this lane.

How can double Support work?

In prior seasons, we saw some fascinating selections in the bottom lane which originated from expert play and found its way into solo queue. The likes of Garen Runes + Yuumi Runes bot lane and even Taric Runes + Sona Runes bot compelled Riot to introduce penalties for Supports: penalizing them for earning gold.

The way both work around that is by farming fewer minions to avoid penalties. They only take the most precious minions that give them the maximum gold, which are the Cannon Minions and Melee Minions. They, for the most part, discount ranged minions as they do not give a lot of gold. If done correctly, they should avoid getting penalties and decreasing their gold income.

The key for this to work would be to earn as much gold as possible without risking a penalty. It is played like any other Support. They'll both attempt to complete their warding quest as quickly as possible so that they can get and put eyesight.

An enormous thank you to LOL Esports who made this wonderful video. If you want to learn more about the dynamic duo in the bottom lane, then definitely give this video a watch!

Starting Items

Both Supports must take Spellthief's Edge. Spellthief's works nicely with both champions kit as they provide them AP harm which lets them deal more damage with their skills. It also gives then added mana which raises their sustain in lane.

As a result of this extra mana, Sona Runes will be able to use her W more frequently so offer them both extra health and sustain. Lux Runes will also be able to poke and shield often too.

Runes

Both winners should take a variation of a Guardian rune page. Guardian is a great rune for both these champions as it provides them with additional protection in the street. The shield can provide will increase their survivability and permit them to scale to the mid and late-game well.

I wouldn't suggest taking anything else on these two as Guardian offers a lot of added protection and makes them safer in their own weakest phase of the match. Still, you may take Summon Aery on Sona if you wanted to.

Builds

The builds for Sona and Lux will be the exact same builds that they take when acting as Support. I would recommend that you continue to purchase the same items you would ordinarily do.

For Lux Runes, her core things are Athenes and Ardent Censer which increase her recovery and damage output.

For Sona Runes, her heart things are Archangel's Staff (stacked) and Athenes that offer her additional damage and increases her healing skill.

Remember that you can automatically import these assembles during champ select if you're using the Live Companion.

How to Play Sona + Lux Runes through the Early Game

Throughout the early game, the two shouldn't be seeking to fight very often till they have some degrees behind them. Their intention is to out sustain and endure during the laning stage and they lack harm early on.

Playing secure, scaling and waiting for level 6 is a great method of enjoying this duo since they lack kill pressure up till this point. After both winners are flat 6, they can begin to play more competitive and look for picks with LoL Sona's Ultimate and LoL Lux Binding.

Since you do not have kill stress in the first game, don't expect your Jungler to gank you till you are at least level 6 and possess your Ultimate. Preventing becoming yourself in a situation where you need jungle help by playing safe and not pushing too far forwards or placing yourself in a situation where you can get killed.

How to Play Sona + Lux Runes during the Mid and Late Game

In the mid and late game, you will want to stick with your own team and play for selections with LoL Sona's Ultimate and Lux Runes Q. Ensure you are always with them after all- you'll both be"Support" and building Supportive items (or following your heart kill assemble path as if you have been a Support). You both will be equally squishy as well making you more of a target for enemy tough engage.

As soon as you've completed 2 or 3 things, you're shielding or healing will be quite beneficial and it will not be easy for the enemy to kill your allies in staff fights if you are with them. Even though you'll possibly have harm at this moment, your primary goal will be keeping your allies alive and enabling them to win the team fight.

At level 16, you are both likely to be a considerable threat. Continue reading to go for picks now but be more mindful of the enemy seeking to catch you out of position or ambush you.

Tips and Tricks

Let us finish this off guide with some basic strategies about how best to play as the duo.

You don't need to get kills or struggle frequently. This set is about scaling and playing safe early. Once you're level , it is possible to look to perform more aggressively.

Make sure you hit level 2 at the same time as the enemy so you're in a position to exchange back or stop an engage. If you are up against a solid level two champion and you're not going to hit two in precisely the same time, play safer until you're level two.

Stand near each other during the laning phase so you can both get the shield thanks to Guardian.

Avoid becoming penalized and earning low gold by leaving some minions to expire naturally without last-hitting them. Secure all those Cannon minions whenever possible however!

In the mid and late game, avoid going to ward unless your staff is nearby to assist you as both champions are extremely squishy and die quickly if they are caught out.
